What got you into bodybuilding?
I initially began working out when I enlisted in the USAF and I was 19 years old on my first TDY to Kuwait, Al Jaber Air Base. I never wanted the physique of a bodybuilder initially but that of a guy who basically kept himself in shape, which wasn't very hard for me to achieve given that I'm a naturally lean guy. After three months of working out while deployed I attained gains that were not eye popping but noticeable through the eye's of others. After returning to my duty station as any other guy who is in the military I pretty much went back to my routine of doing things prior to my deployment, playing basketball, eating junk food, etc.... So after about six months of off and on lifting weights I asked a very good friend of mine and also now a competitive NPC amateur bodybuilder Geovanny Govea, to take me with him to the gym "no matter what". After about a year of training with him and learning lifting techniques, I still at that time didn't see myself as a bodybuilder but now the "eye popping" results were noticeable by others and I. This gave me motivation to continue to lift and see how far I could go.

Who has been your biggest influences?
Early influences would be my father Vernon Delaine, also a member of the USAF back in his time. I can remember seeing him walking home from work in the fatigue uniform when we lived in Tampa, Florida and knew that it was something I wanted to do when I grew up.

What's comes easy, and what doesn't for you?
Biceps typically come easy to me they're not huge but I don't have to hit them every week, I can typically go in the gym do two to three exercises for them and be done, to be honest the warm-up set makes my bi's burn and I feel like I've done enough.

As far as body parts that haven't come easy, I would say my back needs a great deal of improvement along with my quads and glutes, but time is all I have.

What are the most important things you've learned since you started?

When I began to train I went through various changes as for me from a personality standpoint, there really wereno many changes I am Leo all day everyday a very humble guy. Although m training has changed a bit throughout the years, basically going from a guy who would go to the gym trying to lift heavy with every lift, which was very stupid. I began to read more and more about lifting and learned different techniques that would give me better results without all the wear and tear I was doing to myself. Also with the change of lifting techniques it brought about a physique change for me that resembled a bodybuilder, which led to me getting more interested in how to develop myself into a competitive bodybuilder. Nutrition to me early on could be summed up in one word "calories", I ate any and everything early on to put on size which I would say wasn't a very smart move, it's a way for guys to feel as if they're big, but it's fat and we know it. So now a change in nutrition came about, I began to look at the nutritional facts of foods I was eating and getting in the proper amount of protein and carbs.

What's the biggest mistake you've made?
From a Bodybuilding standpoint, I would say not starting sooner than what I did.

Describe your training style
My training typically cranks up a notch or two when I have a show to get ready for I am very focused on the task at hand and basically block out all disturbing factors that would vere me from coming in at a condition that I am pleased with. I stay very strict when it comes to dieting and very rarely do I go out to eat while dieting, it defeats the purpose of dieting to me you have no idea what restaurants marinate their meat in or veggies, even though going out to eat early on in your diet probably wouldn't hurt a great deal the whole idea is to win and a part of winning means you did what was necessary to win and dieting to me makes all the difference in looking your best. As for off-season training, wow lets just say I should be sponsored by McDonalds I'm a fan of the Big Mac as I have been since I was a little boy, but I generally only eat like that Fri & Sat with Sun-Thurs being my clean days. Training really doesn't drop off from an intensity point of view but I will take more days off as needed just listening to my body and resting more.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years I will be 35 and by then I would like to have the title of IFBB pro along side my name, but if not then I'll just have to keep training to get to that point or to a point where I know I am too old to even put myself through that type of training but lets not look that far ahead, I'm enjoying being able to say I'm young (Lol).

What are your bodybuilding goals?
My goals in bodybuilding are to inspire others and offer guidance to younger individuals who are fans of the sport. My path to get to this point isn't out of reach, I am reachable via email.

Who are your favorite bodybuilders and why?
Kai Green, Melvin Anthony, Dexter Jackson, Ronnie Coleman and Leo Delaine

Kai and Melvin are great entertainers and both have great physiques although Kai has seemed to out shadow Melvin here as of late. Dexter Jackson is just balanced and will remain at the top of the sport for a while. Ronnie Coleman "Yeah Buddy", to me he took the sport to another level he made it fun to watch the bodybuilding videos when others arent talking while theyr'e working out, you just can't get Ronnie to be quite, his outrageous lifts and Olympia titles and ambassador of the sport puts him in a class of his own to me, never met the guy but he seems to have enjoyed every minute of his career. Leo Delaine, hmmm what else can I say for this guy he is on his way, ha ha.... you have to be a fan of yourself.
