CLAF
The
Child's Love And Protection Advocacy Initiative gives
children affected by HIV/AIDS food, shelter, clothing,
and education free of charge. CLAPAI seeks to give these
children a semblance of the quality of life they would
have had if their parents were alive. We are a non-government
organization catering for these children's needs.
Our
Beginnings
CLAPAI is a child of these dire times. The scourge of
HIV/AIDS has deeply affected many young lives in Nigeria.
It began in 2002 when one of our dear relatives was in
the last days of their life. He asked our parents to take
care of his two young sons. We learned of other children
in similar circumstances and our ministry grew.
Our
Vision
CLAPAI's vision is simply to care for children living
with HIV/AIDS and children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Through
no fault of their own, these children carry the stigma
of this dreaded disease. Society and relations tend to
neglect or reject them. Everyone needs food, clothing
and shelter to survive. These children are poorly provided
for. Without education, they have a limited future. CLAPAI
offers to feed, clothes, shelter and educate these children
in a loving environment. CLAPAI also offers vocational
training to infected Widows and Youth.
Today
we care for 15 children, but we have a waiting list of
120 children which we simply don't have the resources
to help today.
Our
Mission
CLAPAI is set out not only house, feed and cloth such
children, but to provide schooling and training. One might
ask how any organization could achieve the vision of catering
for these children.
CLAPAI
recognizes that this requires a lot of resources, human,
material and financial. But! The most important of all
is a WILL. CLAPAI has the will. CLAPAI wants to see the
children off the street and given the opportunities to
become responsible citizens in our society for the number
of years God will grant them to live.
CLAPAI
having networked with other similar agencies in the fight
against AIDS, knows that some special care is needed for
these children and medicaments so! CLAPAI has forged partnership
with certain players in the field to provide medical care
as well as antiretroviral drugs for the children.

Founders:Kyenpiya Nyabam and Emmanuel Nyabam
Kyenpiya
Jessica Nyabam was born in Jos Plateau state to the family
of Peter and Mildred Makan. She is the first of five children.
She has two brothers and two sisters. Kyenpiya is a graduate
of Mass Communications from the University of Jos. She
wedded Emmanuel Ajigasokoa Nyabam on the 27th day of the

are blessed with two boys, Shemaiah Sokoyebomi age three
and Isaac cinci-soko who is just six months old.
In
September of 2001, Kyenpiya tragically lost her uncle
to the dreaded scourge of AIDS. On his death bed he called
Kyenpiya and her fiancé and told them both he was
going to die and that they should care for his two sons
Balmun and Pankye.
Kyenpiya
did not understand until 2004 when she had a vision of
taking care of children infected and orphaned by HIV/AIDS
that her uncle's request went beyond his own sons and
the vision for CLAPAI was born. Kyenpiya is a woman whose
hands are blessed and has the ability to work with her
hands. She is experienced in working in designing and
sewing clothing and as a make-up artist. She has written
two books for children that will soon be on bookstore
shelves.
