My full name is Allan Auguste. I was born and partially raised in Haiti, where I saw many violent crimes and civil disturbances. Crime, poverty, corruption, and turmoil are common themes in Haiti. At the age of fourteen, I came to the United States, Belle Glade, FL to live with my biological father. I enrolled in school there, and two years later, my family moved to Orlando where I finished my remaining high school years. When I first came to the United States, I had a very difficult time learning English, but after six months or so, I began to speak English fluently. I also excelled in my academic studies as well as athletics. I enjoyed playing football, soccer, and running cross-country.

After High School, I attended college in the mid-west, where I earned a B.S. degree in Education. After college, I dedicated 4 1/2 years to the Orange County School District and decided to resign, because I was not happy with the way things were being handled in the school system. After I graduated, (2000) from college, I joined a local gym to train, a gentleman approached me and said, "Hey man you look like a guy who should be competing in the sport of bodybuilding." I have been competing ever since. I am a currently a truck driver, as of now, it is a perfect choice for me, because it gives me time to focus on my bodybuilding career.

My mother, Rose, and my sisters, Tarline and Gertha, and my brothers Johnny and Jean have been the biggest influences in my life. They are my rock and have supported me on my journey.

I have learned a lot, since I started bodybuilding. In order to present a well-balance, symmetrical physique on stage, you have got to stick to a proper diet and train smart. I have learned that every gram of protein is essential, and every rep is crucial in the quest for perfection.

My off-season and contest prep are pretty much identical, with a few changes here and there. During the offseason, I usually lift as heavy as I can. I rotate everything, and have one day off. For example, my schedule goes something like this: Monday-legs; Tuesday-chest; Wed-shoulders; Thurs-back; Fri-legs; Sat-arms; Sun-off. For contest prep, I train all seven days. I become laser focused on achieving victory.

In 2005 I competed as a Welterweight at the Nationals. Since then, I've been able to add size through heavy lifting and eating 7 to 8 meals a day. I trained like a man possessed, and practically ate everything in sight! I'm thankful to be blessed with great genetics. Would you believe me if I told you I hardly do any cardio for the contests I've done in the past? When I do cardio, I start dropping weight too quickly.

My greatest accomplishment to date is earning second place at the 2008 Nationals competition in Atlanta. Prior to that, it was the 2007 USA in Las Vegas. Months before I started to train for it, I spoke to one of my friends and commented that," I probably won't win, but at the end of the contest, everyone will know Al Auguste is."

My immediate goal is to earn a pro card and to compete at the next level. To get there, I just need to keep doing what I am doing; stay focused, train hard and smart, stick to my diet, and of course look better than my competitors. In the long term, I hope to contribute to the sport either helping out other young athletes who want be part of the sport or judging competitions.
